I bet she could sing some Rickie Lee Jones too.

That How Facts Backfire article was both disturbing and yet it explains a lot. It is a good rebuttal to Plantinga’s truth-trackers account of human beings.
Oh wait. He has that covered by the argument that on account of the fall we deliberately deceive ourselves, yada yada yada.
Funny how the empirical study of nature beats everything, including revelation, when it comes to knowing true facts about the world.

“The Onion: Desire to Ejaculate Motivates Local Christian to Wed.” – Hahaha

…My mother is religious, and shes always told me religious guys get married early because there horny, not because they thought it through. I wish I could conduct a research on this subject.

It sounds like Pat Tillman was murdered and for ideological and/or political reasons. This is shocking. WTF is happening to US culture? I watched that short film of soldiers killing those guys from an helicopter. I always seen the US as a symbol of freedom, not oppression. I guess the just, ain’t always just. How sad.

Luke,

I really dig the “news that matters” section. Hopefully it will become a regular thing.

Haha; although I wouldn’t go as far as ‘not thinking it through’, I will say, from what I heard from insiders, a strong motivator for marriage with many religious individuals is to ‘remove that chastity belt’.

It’s not too difficult to imagine this if one thinks this through. We’re all human, and humans get ‘frustrated’.

G’DIsraeli,

My own anecdotal evidence weighs heavily in favor of this thesis, for Christians who are taught premarital sex is bad.

It sounds like Pat Tillman was murdered and for ideological and/or political reasons.

My current understanding is that he was killed in a “friendly fire” incident, in which his fellow soldiers failed to properly identify their targets. The screwup came shortly afterward, as the military covered up the friendly fire nature of the incident in order to market Tillman as a hero to his family and to the world. The persistence of the disinformation efforts is alarming.

About the Sex, a little thing about myself.
I actually had to go to psychotherapy to deal with the whole sex issue. I was sure I should feel very very bad (!) having sex with my girl friend, since it’s very very wrong.
Even after I lost my faith, some ideas and the psychology stuck with me.

I was religious till age about 16. I studied in a Yeshiva traditional Orthodox Judaism. I lost my faith because that emotionally I could not accept the problem of evil (I’m Only human). Today I try to commit myself to honesty & reason and to following them in action.

@Reginald Selkirk
He received 3 bullets in the head from a sniper, from what I understood. He was Ironically not in favor of the war, and even planned to meet Noam Chomsky.
Wiki his name, more details there.
If this is true, I think he the option he was murdered and for ideological and/or political reasons -must- at least be researched.

Reginald,

That could be. Lots of disinformation still being put out by somebody.

Does philosophy bite or does it suck? Maybe it sucks and then bites. This is a matter of great metaphysical importance.

“Us mil restricts media access…”

Is that sooo, US mil? The answer to having moronic field commanders is to restrict the ability of them to expose themselves. I tell ya, the US Military is one of the evilest organizations on the planet.

Earlier today I read PZ’s post about his sons. One of them is an enlisted man in the army. My jaw almost dropped, but of course I said nothing. How the hell anyone with a conscience could let their son enlist in the army today is utterly beyond me… I’d be tackling him by the backpack. They’d have to drag me off.

I’m not around here enough to know whether you’re being facetious, but Philosophy Sucks actually looks pretty interesting.
