Look at the faces. What emotions did the people seem to express when they talked about violence?

My impression: Boys with toys and big ideas, wanting to find a playground to try them all out on. Like the attitude before WWI.

If only they could all restrict their fantasy role-playing to video games instead of insisting on bringing it out into the world.

Sounds promising…
Reminds me of Megadeth’s Holy Wars.
Also of Ernest’s Becker “Denial of Death”.

There is no doubt that religion motivates some individuals to fight in this war, I think there are other complexities that are being ignored, at least in this short clip. I do not think the U.S.’s involvement is based on religion, but rather overthrowing the Taliban regime. Furthermore, I imagine much of the opposition the U.S. faces is not based on religion, but because of our involvement in the region. Other factors include the socioeconomic status of the middle east, compared to other nations.*

* – This is not to say they hate us for our wealth/freedom, but rather such an environment fosters distress, which can lead to warfare and crime.

OK… this was the first time in my life that I watched a trailer and actually felt a shiver run down my spine…
