A new problem for theologians: Split-brain patient whose left brain is atheist, right brain is theist.

O Noez! Heaven, or Hell?

I feel like roissy could use a good dose of your enchanted naturalism, Luke. Read his post on his justification for hedonism, and you’ll see why.

Regardless, I’m happy to see my two favourite blogs converge via linkage goodness!

I have a simple answer. The right brain goes to heaven and the left goes to hell, right?

And, unless it is shown that the theist part of the brain is Christian (or I am missing a Bible verse), I admit I don’t see any problem in it for Christians.

I think you missed a link on the “Is being a mother the most difficult job in the world?” article.

Here’s the problem: does that person have 2 “souls”? If so, would he have had 2 souls before he had the callosotomy, or did that surgery create an additional soul?

The idea that a person can have different beliefs in their different hemispheres raises the same sorts of problems that identical twins and fetal resorption raise for the “arithmetic of souls”, as Sam Harris calls it.

markus,

Quite a few posts come up when I search that site for ‘hedonism.’ Which one did you have in mind?

Fixed, thanks.
