This is damn good. I have listened to this so many times over the years! I think his argument for why the evidence of Jesus’ miracles, etc is awful is fantastic!

I am captivated any time Sam opens his mouth / puts pen to paper, so I can hardly choose a favourite, but this is damn good!

I’ve been a huge fan of this talk as well.

When I first saw the title of your blog, I thought that you were going to continue in Sam’s tradition of arguing against theism and dogma and for reason with “common sense arguments”. Like, George Rey, I also believe that atheists can get caught up in the “philosophical fallacy”. I still love your blog, which has helped me to enjoy some of the deeper philosophical arguments, especially Plantinga’s and his opponents.

In terms of popularizing atheism, I think Sam’s got the best approach, since it retains its intellectual integrity, and has the potential for wide(r) appeal.

Sam is a slick communicator. If he had the knowledge of someone like Oppy or Martin, I think he would eviscerate everybody.

Bill Maher,

I only wish that I was as calm and cool as Harris in talking about things so emotionally charged. When he debates or even just talks like this, it is very inspiring.

re: Sam’s cool character. I agree. Maybe his experience with meditation has paid off? Or maybe he is just a naturally cool mofo.

Is there any way to download this to a mp3? I’d really like to hear it.

unfortunately many of the commenters at actually think this lecture is extremely bad–not to mention that Sam Harris is an embarrassment:

but I liked it.
